Surf the settings the public can’t book.

Loved T4 or Turns To Tubes and wished it was the entire setting?

We’ve got you covered.

Why we built it

Wavepools have settings that never go on sale.

Modern wavepools can run hundreds of distinct settings — most of which are tuned in private testing and never released to public booking. They’re reserved for pro shoots, internal tests, or one-off corporate days.

Hodi negotiates access to those rare settings on behalf of a members-only group. The catch: the venue needs every surfer in the line-up registered with the national body and on a proper insurance policy before they’ll let us run anything custom. That’s exactly what the membership covers.

You don’t get to surf better waves by waiting. You get there by being on the right list with the right paperwork in place. That’s the whole game.

How it works

4 Simple Steps

Register your interest in the special wave settings that you want to surf.

01

Find the wave setting

Browse the Special Waves above — every setting we’ve negotiated with a wavepool partner, including settings the public can’t book at any price.

02

Join the waitlist

Add your name to the waitlist for the setting + venue you want. Free to join; tells us the demand is there before any session goes live.

03

Minimum levels

When demand on a setting hits the required threshold, we email everyone on the list with details of the session, in the order they registered. You get 24 hours to pay to lock the slot in. First in, first served.

04

Surf

Show up on the day. You get access to the most amazing waves for a full hour — settings tuned by the wavepool’s engineers and reserved for members only.

Groups

Already got your own crew ready to go?

Perfect, we’ve got you covered too. Just email us all the names + contact details and we’ll set up a private event page for your crew to join and pay through. No public waitlist, no chasing — straight to confirmed slots.

What Makes This All Work

Everything that makes private sessions possible.

Designed so the moment a private setting opens, you’re already eligible to book — no scrambling for paperwork.

  • Relationship with the wavepools — direct lines into the venues we work with
  • Members-only waitlists for non-released wavepool settings
  • Priority notification when new settings and wavepools become available
  • Pooled pricing — group session buying power keeps cost lowest
Membership

It’s all about insurance.

In order for anyone to surf one of these sessions, you need to be part of a club with valid insurance cover. Wavepools and venues require it before they’ll release private settings — it’s the gating requirement, full stop.

Hodi has created a club for exactly this purpose. Membership includes joining Surf England — the national governing body — which gives you access to many benefits, plus the key insurance you need to surf these private wave sessions.

Already in your own club? That works too — you’ll just need to prove your membership, show your insurance cover, upload the docs and get verified before your first session.

FAQs

The honest answers.

Special wavepool settings — what are they?+
Most wavepools are capable of running far more than the 10–15 settings they sell publicly. They release the settings that make commercial sense and play it safe on risk, so a lot of the cool ones just aren’t released — or are kept aside for pros. We unlock those by forming partnerships with the wavepools, registering demand from the surfer side, and pulling it all together so members get to surf something special.
How much is the membership?+
We share exact pricing once you apply — it varies by which venues you want access to and whether you’re joining mid-year. The membership is annual and covers your Surf England registration plus session insurance for the year.
Why do I have to register with Surf England?+
Surf England is the national governing body. Wavepool venues require every surfer in an organised, insured session to be registered with them. We handle the registration paperwork as part of the membership.
What does the insurance cover?+
Public liability + personal accident cover for sessions you do as part of a Hodi private session. It does not replace travel insurance or your day-to-day surf insurance for non-Hodi sessions.

How it works
  • Coach Video Reviews
Privatisation of a session — 10+ members and the lake is just for you and your crew
  • Public liability + personal accident insurance for sessions
  • Someone to organise and bring the demand together
  • Privatisation sessions — what does this mean?+
Some wavepools will turn a public session private if 10 or more people from a group are booked in. The session feels different — it’s just your crew in the line-up — and because there are only 10 of you instead of a full session, you also get more waves. More waves, with your friends.
    How are private settings chosen?+
We negotiate them with our wavepool partners ahead of each season. Members can request specific settings via the apply form or membership inbox — popular requests go to the front of the queue.
Do I get a refund if no sessions run?+
The membership covers Surf England + insurance, which renew on schedule regardless. We don’t pro-rate refunds for low session counts — instead we publish a target session calendar each season so you know what to expect.
Can I join if I’m not based in the UK?+
Yes — our wavepool partners are UK-based today, but membership is open to anyone willing to travel for the sessions. We’re actively negotiating with international venues; ticking "Special Wavepool Setting Sessions" in your account preferences keeps you in the loop.
